Twins {8 Months Old}

So much has changed since my last post about the kiddos. ❤36913014_10103464583528700_6853943170695168_n (1).jpgHarrison is full on crawling (started at end of month 6) and can lift himself to stand. It’s a constant battle to make sure he doesn’t fall on his head! His balance is getting much better day by day.

Ally is not there yet with crawling, but she does pivot and do a back crawl. I love watching both of them progress but they do it so differently and I find it fascinating. 36816334_10103464583593570_902011473679613952_nAlly chews her food better than Harry and prefers “regular food” like eggs and chicken. Harry has been more into purees like sweet potato, pear and pineapple purees.

They both love a smidge of peanut butter on a wheat wrap piece.36863480_10103464776127730_5214237073556373504_nAlly can also eat solo with pouches.  It just amazed me how different they are! 37037728_10103468563842120_5595797183539445760_nThe rice rusk teething cookies have been very helpful and even bread works. Harry has his two bottom teeth and Ally has one bottom tooth just about poking through.

They both dislike teethers which is funny to compare to their big sis. She LOVED teethers and we had a ton for her… and now useless. #momlife 😉36864573_10103464588528680_5407523095936237568_nWe also did their baptism at 8 months old. HarrisonAllisonBaptismJuly2018-4They behaved so well, I was highly impressed! The service was much better then Sammy’s and more relaxed for the kiddos.HarrisonAllisonBaptismJuly2018-5 The church that we found is very young family/ kid oriented, so we were very excited to have found it!HarrisonAllisonBaptismJuly2018-18That wraps up our 6-8 month update on the twins. Next one will be the ONE YEAR update. That is insane… it’s less than 4 months away!

Time sure does fly when you have kids.

‘Sunday Morning’ Oatmeal Pancakes [GF]

Breakfast is probably my favorite part of the day.

Today I am sharing with you one of my favorite recipes that I am bringing over from the ‘former’ Nutritiously Sweet.

It’s perfect for your family’s Sunday morning breakfast – or any time!I like to prepare the batter over night (you made need to add just a smidge extra liquid in the morning) or wait about 30 minutes before cooking so the oats can absorb all the liquid. They are very nutritious and filling.

These do still have protein powder, just not as much. If you want, you can even omit the protein powder* all together and just add another tablespoon of flour. Simple.

If you’re making a batch for a little one under 12 month old, I would omit the protein powder, Stevia & maple syrup. They don’t need it nor will they notice anything. Perfect finger food too!

Feel free to double (or triple!) this batch for a bigger crowd or why not save some for later? These pancakes freeze well once cooked and last in the fridge for about 3-4 days. Sunday Morning Oatmeal Pancakes (serves two “adults” – maybe)

  • 1 Cup GF [Quick] Oats
  • 2 Tbsps GF Flour (or flour of choice)
  • 2 Tbsps Vanilla Protein Powder*
  • 1 tsp Stevia (or sugar of choice)
  • 1/2 Cup Light Vanilla Soy Milk (or milk of choice)
  • 1 tsp Pure Maple Syrup
  • 1 Large Egg, Whisked
  • 1/2 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • Dash of Sea Salt
  • 1 tsp Chia Seeds (Optional)

Take first four dry ingredients and place into a bowl. Take the remaining ingredients and whisk together; add to dry ingredients and blend well. On a low-medium flame, cook pancake on stovetop.

Wait until pancake bottom is golden brown to flip and repeat cooking on other side. Remove from stove top and let cool, repeat til batter is done (makes about 4-5 pancakes).

Easter Sunday & Such.

I’m probably a little late on sharing Easter Sunday thangs.20160327_131841 But hey… I think a few days late is okay by you guys right?

Samantha began Easter with her cute basket from grandma (my mom). I put a Happy Baby pouch & puffs (her favorite), a bunny she picked one shopping day, a kitty nightgown and a mesh fresh food feeder.20160326_160650-1 Easter Sunday was spent at the in-laws house. We enjoyed some family time and ate a delicious dinner.20160327_132659Of course there is always room for napping.20160327_155215I found this “Immunity Boosting” water on sale at the market. It has over 100% of Vitamins A, C, D, B12 and so forth. KarmaYou had to peel the sticker off the top and push the top inside, which released all the vitamins. It was pretty cool and this flavor was delicious. Definitely would buy again if it’s on sale.20160328_190828-1Samantha had been sick all last week, so I wanted to make sure I keep extra healthy while she was coughing in my face. 😦20160326_184056 She still managed to smile each day; but she was miserable most of the time being congested, coughing, sneezing and having a mild fever sometimes.20160329_094136 As a parent, it sucks when you literally can’t do nothing. Monday she finally had an appetite and ate all of this pouch; organic kale, blueberries, bananas and brown rice!20160328_131419-1Thsi week, I treated myself to some Starbucks; found it at Target for only $4.99.20160329_151346-1Some “honey nut” M&M’s. Though delicious, they tasted like the peanut ones.20160327_184945Can’t forget some clearance finds at Target for mommy and baby.20160329_150805-1I’m linking up with Amanda for Thinking out LOUD Thursday. Thinking-Out-LoudHope everyone is having a great week. If you’re in New England area, enjoy the beautiful weather!

Question: Which M&M’s flavor [or any candy] is your favorite?

Day in the Life of Mom & Baby.

I saw Leah do one of these posts on her blog (which you should check out HERE), so I wanted to do my version. Samantha has been pretty consistent as of the past week or so with a routine.

This “day in the life of” post is the usual scenario on a day off or if I train a person in the morning and am back before 7:30am when Pat has to leave for work. This type of day I usually have about 2-3 per week.

***

5:00am: Samantha wakes up HUNGRY. Quick diaper change then a 5.5oz bottle. She usually falls back asleep. I have a feeling this isn’t going to last too long, so we are savoring it!

7:00am: Samantha wakes up for the day. I bring her to bed with me, cuddle for a bit then we head to her play mat for some sitting up/ tummy time.

7:30am: While Sam plays, I make breakfast or heat up some oats I prepped. Some fruit and peanut butter is almost always involved a long with coffee.20160223_073034-18:00am: Breakfast for Sam. It usually consists of a fruit or pumpkin, oatmeal and maybe some yogurt and cinnamon. She loves cinnamon.20160223_132505-18:30am: Play time! This usually involves the cube, dollhouse or random toys. She’ll start to get tired and then want to nap.20160223_1302419:00am-10:00am: Babe is down for a nap and mom gets to some blog stuffs or work done for PT clients. Her morning nap is about 30-45mins, so I use this time to prep for the next day.

11:00am: I’ll do some cleaning, laundry and prep some of her bottles while she walks around in the walker. Maybe even have a snack if I’m extra hungry that morning.20160223_090440-112:30pm: Lunchtime! I will always have some type of sandwich, whether it’s turkey sandwich from Subway or a veggie burger. 20160218_131224-12:00pm: Nap time is approaching. I give her a rice rusk or puffs to nibble on while she watches some tunes or Elmo. She is obsessed with Elmo! After, I’ll give her a bottle and this will usually put her to sleep.20160220_1130283:00pm: Nap time. It can go anywhere from 45mins to two hours. I use this time to get more cleaning done, have a snack, some fruit, get laundry folded and also take a shower.20150827_121607-1_zps2e38e63d 4:00-5:00pm: The babe is up and it’s dinner time. It will include some type of veggie. She has been loving this spinach combo. I sometimes will add a bit of pear or apple if it’s one of those days she is “not having it” with the veggies.  She will gobble it right up!20160219_172734-16:00pm: Dinner time for mommy and bottle for Sam. The nights that I am with Sam all day, Pat comes home by 9:00pm. Since I am up early I can’t wait until that time to eat, I’ll have half of a Subway footlong if I bought the $6 special. Otherwise it’s left overs of protein, carbs and veggies!20150819_175729-1_zps2c1a7cca7:00pm: Prep dinner for Pat and begin to wind down for the day. After I cook, I’ll clean up the dishes and prep bottles for Sam.

8:00-8:30pm: Once I see she is starting to get hungry I take her a bath and give her the last bottle for the evening. She will almost always falls straight to sleep. I wait for Pat to come home and relax for the rest of the evening.Sam10:00pm: Bedtime. Some days I fall asleep by 9:30pm or days it’s 11:00pm but in general. 10:00pm is the usual.

That’s a wrap on one of my “all day” with the babe day! Both of these days are my rest days! Sometimes if I have to run errands I’ll walk around the entire store to get some steps in but usually I just rest! Need that R&R. 🙂

Question: What do YOU do one your rest day or day off from work/ school?

Samantha Julia {6 Months}

I cannot believe half a year has passed. 20160208_162911-1Time truly does go by quick. I must say every second of every day is always different. So what’s new since month 4 for Samantha?20160208_162327 Teething big time. It sucks and she isn’t a fan of teethers.

We’ve tried a little yogurt in the past couple of weeks, so I decided to freeze a pouch of Stonyfield baby yogurt, cut it half and bam… instant relief.20160208_182403-1 She will bite it for a few minutes, then she’s good to go. She also likes this rattle by Bright Starts. She loves the crinkle sound in the wings and I think it distracts her from any pain. Best $2.00 spent!12717309_10102441933073410_3477119564231514405_nWhatever works right?

Puffs & rice rusks have been huge too.12647464_10102432050173820_2667928161470938329_n The puffs are there to keep her entertained. I’ll sit next to her while she’s in her high chair and work on her grabbing skills. She’ll usually only eat 8 and I think a serving is something crazy like 90 puffs.20160209_152939-1 I found these blueberry ones for 0.90 cents [getting discontinued], but I usually go for this brand in Sweet Potato. The Happy Brand is awesome and I can find those puffs sometimes for less than $2.50 on sale. LaptopOne of my friends gave me this laptop for Samantha. It’s by Vtech and is an older model but WOW she loves it. It keeps her entertained if I need to get work done or cook dinner.

She still likes the Vtech activity cube from 4 months, but this one definitely has taken more of her time. Speaking of time; Bedtime!

Looking for a good mattress for baby? Let’s TALK!

We originally purchase this Naturepedic lightweight mattress for Samantha before she was born and we had tried to get her to sleep in the crib and she just kept waking up.

We had bed rails for out bed and just ended up sleeping on the futon in living room for a month or so. I know not the BEST solution but we were tired and wanted her to rest. I later realized I still had packaging for the mattress and decided to take it back. 20151203_113746I sat in the mattress section and looked up every mattress in store since I had to get it from Buy Buy Baby with my credit. I didn’t want it to be heavy but I wanted it to last and have her feel comfy. Colgate are the mattress specialist so after all my research I went with the regal II deluxe.

First night with the new mattress, Sam slept through the night! It is much more comfy and isn’t as hard as the lightweight one. It feels more like our mattress but with better support for baby and it was cheaper!

That’s a wrap for my baby girl at 6 months. She still is a fan of everything from the 4 month recap post, so these are the extra. 🙂

Question: What are some of your baby’s/ toddler favorites? Please share I am always looking for new things/ ideas to try!

Baby Samantha {4M Recap}

Happy five months to my beautiful baby girl!10374889_10102414552269760_6836699631286945084_nI remember this time last year being pregnant and hating the nausea.

I was living off of Starbucks Cool Lime tea and bagels. Funny, I find myself still in Starbucks and craving bagels.

Samantha started eating some solids at the end of 4 months.

We are sticking with some rice cereal and a teaspoon of baby banana food for breakfast or lunch of organic brown rice cereal and baby sweet potato.

We have been loving the Happy Bellies rice cereal with added DHA and Choline!71HlhjWAVmL._SX522_Plus it has probiotics for the belly.

Since my work schedule varies, we try to give her either the breakfast or lunch, never both. Once she hits 6 months (and we both settle with work), we will get more consistent with a small breakfast/ lunch and dinner.

We have been using these spoons to feed her.14909617349473pWe have others but I think because it’s thinner then the other ones, she eats better from these. The others are too wide for her tiny mouth.

For clean up or to have handy in my diaper bag, we are obsessed with Babyganics hand sanitizer & stain remover20150827_134352-2_zpse74bc74a1.jpgBabies (and moms) can get messy! The Babyganics stain remover is amazing for getting out those tough stains. Definitely going to stock up some more.

A couple of her favorite toys for the last couple of months have been: 44e391ba-19e4-4785-a3eb-4aa860310244_1.34e56df4065f3a85de2017aa96235ab8VTech’s Busy Learners Activity Cube.

The VTech Click  & Count (sensing a pattern here?).

Can’t forget My Pal Scout, especially for bedtime music!11694918_10102452488200850_8853355431971994638_nThe Rainforest Jumperoo is a new favorite of hers.

Other things she’s been using has been plenty of teethers, bibs, fun  bath toys and random toys that shake. 😀

She is such a joy and happy baby, we got so lucky with this little love bug. That’s it for now! Until the next update and remember to see more posts HERE about all things baby!
